Tyr was more than just a name; he was the Norse god of war and justice. And in our studios, we’ve poured every ounce of that spirit into creating an armour worthy of his legacy.

Here’s why I’m so excited about the Tyr – it’s not just “for show.” You see, at Black Raven Armoury, we believe in crafting armours that not only look stunning but also serve their purpose. Layered leathers, a fitted, articulated shape that hugs your body, dulling the blows from combat – this is what makes the Tyr so special. It gives you that thrilling sense of combat readiness, making you feel like a true warrior.

Designed as a three quarter-length body armour, the Tyr accommodates chest sizes ranging from 40 to 48 inches & 48 to 56 inches. It’s one of the most combat-practical designs to come out of our studios, and we couldn’t be prouder.

Every detail of the Tyr tells a story. Hand-cut, hand-embossed, stitched, riveted, dyed, antiqued – each process is a testament to our commitment to quality. The embossed panelling, detailed edge embossing, and extensive edge binding to all potentially vulnerable areas make this armour one of our toughest yet.

LARP Armours : All of our LARP Armours are a minimum of 3.2 to  mm - 1/8 to 9/64 Inch - 8 to 10 oz Thickness, this is perfect for LARP and Cosplay events where any "combat" that occurs is non lethal and typically involves rubber covered foam weapons with plastic, or fiberglass cores. SCA Armours : All of our SCA armours are laminated to a minimum 6.5 mm- 1/4 Inch - 16 oz Thickness, many also have a degree of water hardening, this combination of hardened laminated leather is ideally suited to SCA and HEMA combat
